Jerry O’Brien is a leader who has a proven track record of achievement with individuals, teams and organisations. He left school at 16 to join the Royal Navy where he worked in a variety of roles around the world. His military career involved several periods of active service, latterly as part of a specialist airborne commando unit. When he left the military, Jerry worked in the ambulance service for a short while before joining the Fire brigade.He rose rapidly through the ranks and served at Board level for over a decade. During this time he developed a keen interest in coaching, mentoring and the development of individuals & teams. His last “fire” role was as Deputy Chief Fire Officer and Executive Director. Jerry is experienced in areas such as executive coaching, mediation, Nero-Linguistic Programming (NLP) practitioner, Strategic Level Assessment Centres and critical incident command/ management.
He has worked across Europe and Internationally on behalf of the UK in connection with the development and promotion of safety standards and personal protection. Jerry is well known for his work on embedding values, emotional intelligence and strategic command within organisations.
Jerry holds a Masters in Business Administration and was one of the first fire officers to complete the Cabinet Office Top Management Programme. Outside of work Jerry is a Magistrate. He was a founder trustee of an Anglo-West African Charity and has undertaken several fund raising activities, including running, cycling and canoeing the length of the Gambia.
